The Upper Room Worship Center is a Brethren in Christ denominational church plant out of Cedar Grove BIC Church, Mifflintown, PA.
The Upper Room launched their first service in October 2004 mostly through building relationships one at a time. We believe relationships are KEY!
The BIC denomination had 288 churches in NorthAmerica (United States and Canada) at 2005 year end with another 15+ launching in 2006.
We are part of the Susquehanna Conference of the BIC (www.bic-church.org/susq ) which includes churches from Central PA, one in New York and one in Maryland. There are 7 Conferences throughout NorthAmerica with bishops leading each conference. We were fortunate to have Ken Letner as our bishop from 2003 until he passed away in 2008. This church had a special place in his heart since he was the pastor at Cedar Grove that birthed the vision of planting The Upper Room in Lewistown. In 2009, we opened up our 2nd site in Belleville. God gave us the vision to open a total of 8 sites.
We are a growing and progressive denomination. In the last few years we have planted/adopted 36 hispanic churches in Miami alone! God is really moving through us!
